The living doesnt get much better than Anderson
County, Tennessee.
It
is beautiful. The climate is mild. The activities are varied and plentiful.
The landscape is gorgeous, with rolling hills, picturesque valleys, rivers
and lakes. Recreational opportunities are nearly limitless. The county
is within 90 minutes of two major national forests Great Smoky
Mountain National Park and the Big South Fork National River & Recreation
Area. The annual average temperature is about 57 degrees. The county has
four seasons and springs and falls that are to die for. Leisure
choices are everything individually or with groups. Fishing is
a year-round activity as is golf. Hunting, boating, water-skiing, rowing,
volleyball, soccer are only the beginning of the list. Organized youth
sports are everywhere for soccer, basketball, baseball, and football,
in addition to school athletics programs. Swimming can be enjoyed in clear
lakes and indoor and outdoor pools. Pumping iron or aerobics classes are
easy to find and inexpensive. And the area lends itself to jogging, running,
biking or walking in neighborhoods. The region is home to the University
of Tennessees Lady Vols basketball team and Vols football team,
both of which regularly contend for national championships. For cultural
and scientific interests, the county is home to the American
Museum of Science and Energy, the Children's Museum (Oak Ridge), the
Museum of Appalachia and the Museum of Country
Music (Norris). A fine symphony orchestra and community chorus, and a
number of concert ensembles serve interest in the arts.
